Menditxo excels in offering a menu that is rooted in simplicity and authenticity, highlighting fresh, local ingredients prepared with care and precision. Diners consistently praise the quality and generous portions of traditional dishes. The grilled fish options, such as dorada and bacalao, stand out for their perfect execution—juicy, flaky, and cooked just right to bring out their natural flavors. The classic Spanish tortilla de patatas here evokes nostalgia, accompanied traditionally by a bottle of sidra, rounding out an experience steeped in local culture.
For those with dietary considerations, Menditxo shines as a safe haven—especially for guests with gluten intolerance. The staff's dedication to meticulous preparation using clean grills and gluten-free oils sets it apart. Their thoughtful gluten-free appetizers and freshly baked gluten-free bread options showcase an inclusive approach that truly cares for every guest’s comfort and enjoyment.
One of the most endearing features of Menditxo Restaurante is its attentive and heartfelt service. Guests often remark on the professional yet affectionate attention they receive. Waitstaff go beyond standard expectations, offering helpful explanations of dishes and personalized recommendations, particularly when it comes to the desserts, which many describe as some of the best they've ever tasted—light, indulgent, and bursting with flavor.
The location itself is a hidden gem, perched on a mountain spot that offers a peaceful backdrop to your meal—perfect for savoring quality food away from the city bustle. A weekend menu priced reasonably at around 31-34€ per person provides great value with multiple well-flavored choices, although some diners note occasional small imperfections, such as a drier meat dish or an artichoke plate with slightly excessive liquid. These slight nuances, however, do little to detract from the overall memorable experience.
Whether you’re revisiting childhood memories while enjoying a traditional tortilla or seeking new favorites among expertly prepared grilled specialties, Menditxo Restaurante offers more than just a meal—it serves an authentic slice of Gipuzkoan hospitality and cuisine that stays with you long after the last bite.

On our honeymoon we were traveling in a van across Europe 3 months, over 10 countries and 5 capitals. We visited many great restaurants, but this was our favorite! The food was simple, clean and tasty. Environment was cosy, felt like home and our waiter was really helpful and friendly! Ps: The waiters recommended desserts were really one of the best we ever had!
